End

I have learned so much at Unitec, so many different styles and techniques and a greater view on the art world. Achieving this course will be one of the greatest things I have done for myself so far and I will continue to study next year in the Bachelor of graphic design and animation and see where it takes me.
The artests I have found have influenced my work greatly and I hope to be as famous as them one day. I think my artwork is original and i want to keep exspressing myself through it. Long live aslan.

Final Studio

For my Final studio I decided to do graphic design and animation as it is the one I enjoyed the most. I love being able to draw so much and create my own worlds and storeys. For the final brief we had to use Unitec as a subject within our works so I decided to go along with the architecture and outside of building one. For studio I created another graphic novel this time with dates instead of a story and used the same drawing style.

For PPMT I took lots of photos around the outside of building one and all the architecture bits and created my own world through Photoshop. I darkened the images and added nice scratching effects then added wolf silhouettes to them. I am very happy with the outcome as I achieved the other worldly effect aswell as it still looking like Unitec.

Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell

Boris Vallejo is one of my favorite fantasy artists. He creates stunning art works with people and creatures in his own fantasy world. He often uses models to copy the exact body shape and tone to create the most realistic people within his art, he is a master at painting the human body.

Vallejo uses oil paints for his work and sometimes digital material. He has Illustrated for many things such as: album covers, books, gaming, motion picture advertising, posters, cards and calenders. His work is a great inspiration to me as he has created so many different amazing images, with all kinds of maidens, worriers and creatures but all still within the fantasy genre.

Julie Bell is also a fantasy artist and works along side her husband (Boris Vallejo).
Her works are just as amazing. Bell is a body builder and loves the human body, she has created more woman subjects than Vallejo as she finds they relate to her more. I love the way she has created these massive creatures to walk along side the woman in the images, giving a great sense of power. Her illustrations are also very realistic almost like a picture snap shot from another world.

Bell has done illustrations for many things, such as Nike, painting book covers, doing album covers for artists such as Meat Loaf, calenders and posters. She is another great inspire.

Graphic Design & Animation

This is my animation i made for my first graphic design studio.
Music By: Celebration and Nightwish - Deep silent complete

First we had to design a character, mine of course was a wolf. I first started making him by binding wire together so that it would be his bendy skeleton. Then I surrounded the wire with modeling clay ( the type of clay that doesn't crumble or go hard) and started crafting my wolf. Once he was crafted I added a black spiral on his left shoulder, gave him a necklace and a few little feathers coming out of his fur, the idea of this was to express how intelligent  and special the canine species are.

Second I started making the background of my animation. First I cut out trees and put cellophane in front and behind them, this was a successful background but I wanted something more realistic, so I found some mossy logs, leaves, and bark and created my own mystical forest. I also used two torch lights to give it a night like setting.

I named my character Feather and continued to use him in my graphic novel. Drawing this graphic novel was very time consuming but I enjoyed every second of it. I used only a ballpoint pen for the drawings and then shaded them with pencil to give them depth. Then I put it through Indesign to add the text.

Josephine Wall

When I started graphic design I started to get really interested in certain artists. One of those is Josephine Wall. Walls artwork is absolutely amazing, she paints with acrylic paints to get all the colours and details. Her work to me is so inspiring, enlightening, spiritual and colourful. Wall uses things like nature, enchantment, animals and people within her paintings and merges them all together creating an absolute master piece. I can relate to her more in graphic design than visual arts as her work is mostly produced on calenders, cards, and posters, each painting is mass produced and shared, I think this is a great way to express art to the world.

Wall has a great sense of spirituality and nature which she expresses through her work, she creates another enchanting world to escape to.

This is an amazing image, she seems to be an angel of flight.

Forest child and all his friends.

Visual Arts

My experience throughout visual arts was full on. I had so much in my head that I wanted to express as well as keeping things in line. My first 3 big paintings were a mixture of acrylic painted colourful landscapes with black and white ink creatures, giving narrative. This is what I originally wanted to do  and I was happy with the outcome. Then I started exploring and  making acrylic washed colourful backgrounds and adding images on with mono printing that in the end would make their own narrative. I always look for the story within artworks, its the thing I find most interesting and I created what I set out to create.

These three paintings are my favorite.

Mountain Dragon

this is the first painting i did in visual art, i love mixing acrilic colour together, in this painting besides black and white the main colours i used were; green, blue and purple. The wolf creature is done in pen.

I love the background in this image as all the colours blend really well with each other and if you look at it long enough you can see a sunset above the wolf and the earth beneath it, also the trees, the wolf and the sun fit in perfectly. The black and white mono print give it the shadowed earth and the bright top of the trees when the sun is setting.

Brett Whiteley

When I started visual arts and was exploring different painters to influence my work in some way, I came across Brett Whiteley. Whiteley is an Australian artist and he has traveled throughout his life creating massive, beautiful and colourful paintings along the way. What i learned about Whitley and what influences him, is that he takes parts of his life at the time and creates them into art. He is greatly influenced by life experiences, travel and his love for Australia. Some of his paintings are of Australia and the outback. What i love about Whiteley is the way he creates such different paintings, they are realistic yet not at the same time, E.g, His painting "The Olga's" You can clearly see that its of the Australian outback with the golden mountains, the big blue sky and the Australian cultural objects and images he has placed around. Yet he has added a strange oddity to it , the mountains are shaped differently his little creatures are a bit warped, this whole painting just draws you in. Out of all his painting series; drawing series, portrait series and cultural series, His landscape series are my favorite and they have influenced my own landscape paintings with adding lots of colour and creatures, creating something different from all the rest.

Whiteley's painting " The most beautiful mountain" is one of my favorites, i love the natural colours and scenery and the calming feel. Whiteley painted this picture when he was on vacation with his family and his feelings at the time really do express through this painting.

Photography

When I first started photography I had no idea what to take photos of so I just went out and manifested all these things together to create something I really liked. I ended up useing my friend as a model and the main atraction in the image, then i created a gypsy like feel to the images useing crystals, feathers and nature i tryed to create my own world.

Bat For Lashes

Natasha Khan is a musician and song writer she is a great personal
influence towards my art, Khan creates such an intense world with her music that
is both spiritual and magical. With some of her songs she has gone to the forest
to record them to bring the sounds and feels of nature into her music so they
create the real magical feel of the forest. We have the same interests and
personal feels towards the world and so she inspires me greatly.

Intro

In my final semester at Unitec I have been doing visual arts and graphic design, graphic design also being my final studio choice, I would have to say its my favorite due to all the drawing and creating my own storeys, I was also very happy with the animation I made - a clay model wolf in a magical forest setting . Visual arts was also enjoyable as I loved using colours within the landscape and bringing forth images with monotone printing but drawing is defenitly the way to go for me. In the first semester this year I first did photography then cont. craft then interior. Out of them photography was my favorite, i loved setting up and propping for my photos and going to awesome locations. Throughout my time at Unitec i have been trying to put a mystical, spiritual feel to all my works and also adding allot of wolves and nature to almost everything, i feel these things are a great part of me and the best way to express it to the world is through art. Next year i am continuing to study in the bachelor of graphic design and animation and hope to build a great future with my art. These two drawings i did in my own time.
